Writer. Creator. Entrepreneur
I have a deep, personal desire to help every individual discover who they are so they can create who they want to be.
Okay, I know these ‘About’ pages typically give some context and credentials as to why you should listen or care about anything this person has to say. People typically do this by telling you about all the things they have done or what they have accomplished—big awards, prominent speaking or writing gigs, important kind of stuff like that. I don’t have any big awards related to writing or speaking or inspiring people to make big changes…yet. I am only a just getting into this. You may be here because of my first book The Being Equation or one of my blog posts. There is twenty or thirty years of reading, journaling and living behind those. Other than writing, I have been “successful” in a number of different fields including, but not limited to: gardener, an IT consultant, a bank teller, a research technician, an ecologist, and a real estate broker. I am also an entrepreneur and creator of the Ninja Planner.
So, why is The Being Equation and writing important to me? Because I spent the first 42 years of my life drifting, searching for the answer to that ever elusive question: What am I meant to do? My life changed when I realized I couldn’t answer that question before I first could answer this one: Who am I? The process of finding the answer to that question has changed my life and I hope it will change yours.
At the age of 42 I found myself in a career that was financially lucrative but mentally unfulfilling. I was unhealthy and stressed, popping Rolaids like candy to deal with my stress induced heartburn, waking up each morning not excited for the day ahead and drinking too much each night to try and turn off my brain. I had gotten there by doing everything “right” by the standards of society and I was miserable.
What do I do now, five years later? I write, I work to create content and ideas that will help and inspire others. I have conversations with my friends and people I meet that I hope will show and inspire them how to create their lives. And I am constantly engaging with others to continue to discover who I am and what I want to create in this world. I wake up every, single day excited to get out of bed and start my day. People always ask how to define success, and I think if you can wake up each morning excited for the day ahead of you, then that is a good benchmark to use for success.
What else makes me different and worth paying attention to? Well, I guess you might say I am walking the talk. I live in a horse barn (by choice) with my wife, horses, a border collie, and a pot-bellied pig named Miss Piggy Sue. I write and work from from my Airstream, ACE Gratitude or any other place that inspiration strikes me.
I know my life and how I live it will definitely not be for everybody. Hell, it may not be for anybody other than me but that is the point. All this living and learning has brought me to the simple conclusion that you can’t be living your life for everyone else. You have to live it for yourself. My goal is to help you figure out what living your life for yourself means to you.
